International workshop on NGS Informatics
– a true hands-on learning experience
Who should attend?
This workshop has been carefully designed to empower two target audiences.
Principal Investigators and Research Scholars
The program will also have strong appeal on who are working on projects related to NGS or looking forward to enter the field of genomics.
The In silico masters who are looking forward to widen their domain of expertise to NGS Data Analysis.
About the workshop:
Increasing understanding of the biology at the genetic level with a genome wide approach and with the increasingly sophisticated methods of DNA sequencing are opening new opportunities for a more heuristic approach in Research in genetics and Genomics.
In this 5-day workshop we aim to deliver the participants a comprehensive understanding of the NGS technology encompassing the nitty-gritties of experiment design and data analysis for understanding the biology.
The workshop has been continuously delivered at regular intervals to have tutored more than 250 participants comprising of Principal Investigators and Research Scholars from varied research domain, research institutes and industry. The over-whelming response from the participants has encouraged us to host an International workshop to cater the heterogenous community of academia/industry across the globe.
To make the learning experience more interesting and fun and make most of your visit to India, we have added a visit to Bandipur Tiger Reserve / Gokarna Beach for the participants at the end of the workshop.
At the conclusion of the workshop, the participants should be able to:
Understand fundamentals of NGS Data Analysis
Make headway in using Linux/Unix Platform
Develop technical proficiency in Handling NGS Data analysis tools / pipelines.
Design customized analysis workflow for your research
Plan/Design scientifically sound and cost effective Experiment using NGS Technology/Platform
Independently perform NGS data analysis for your project
Every day of the workshop will have the following timeline to be abided with.
*Chai pe gupshup – A session of gupshup(conversation) over chai(tea)

The course design makes you spend most of your time on real life data, exactly where you are supposed to.
- We know the technology at the back of our hand
We have handled 160+ projects covering major NGS application. We have 24 publications under our belt where we co-authored in 11 and got acknowledged in rest. We know what we are teaching!
- Because we have mastered teaching
Yes! With successfully conducting more than 50 workshops previously, we have mastered the skill of teaching. It will no longer matter “Do I need to have some prior knowledge?”
- You will be left self-sustained
The tools and the OS used for teaching are all freeware’s. Go back home to download them for free, and continue practicing. We don’t want you to be stuck with paid software’s and pipelines
- Post training – “We are always with you”

About the weekend trip
Bandipur Tiger Reserve
The Bandipur National Park is situated at the confluence of Western and Eastern Ghats, serving as a central link in the seasonal migration of Elephants from Mudumalai Sanctuary and Satyamangalam forest division in the east and south east to Nagarahole National Park and Wynad Sanctuary in the west and North West. The Park is a significant component of 5500 sq.km ‘Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve’ which is one of the largest conservation areas in India. It supports a very high density of Elephant population with significant number of adult tuskers.
Gokarna is a small and remote holy town, with four of India’s most secluded and pristine beaches nestled nearby. It draws both pious pilgrims and hedonistic holiday makers with equal enthusiasm.
Gokarna is located in the state of Karnataka, an hour south of the Goa border. It’s around 450 kilometers (280 miles) from Bangalore, the state capital.
